We at Palmerston House are proud to have seen Edinburgh being named in several independent lists of the most attractive places in the UK to visit.
It’s not just tourists that like Edinburgh though – a study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) recently ranked the city as the UK’s third best to live or work in.
This should come as little surprise to those who know Scotland’s capital, a city that offers plenty to people of all ages. Lists of ‘what to do’ are available through all the popular travel sites, but as we’re sure you will agree, nobody knows a city better than the people who live in it.
Having spent many years living in Edinburgh, and knowing what the city has to offer, we have learnt that no educational programme would be complete without the kids enjoying themselves. That’s why we have spent the last year deciding what we think are the best things to see and do in Edinburgh, for inclusion in our programmes. But considering that no trip to Scotland can be based only on the experience of one city, we have also included a diverse selection of some of the most famous and best attractions to visit throughout Scotland.
Despite the years we have spent in Edinburgh, we’re still learning new things about it. Having read this list of ’10 reasons Edinburgh is the best city in the UK’, we discovered a couple of little-known gems that we thought you might be interested to read about, hoping that it may inspire you to visit us.
Did you also know that some of the foremost authors of all time wrote much of their best work influenced by Edinburgh’s charms? These include Sir Walter Scott, Robert Louis Stevenson, Arthur Conan Doyle and more recently JK Rowling among many others.
We love it here, and we’re sure you will too.
